Real world peace time and war time missions
The EOD mission is in constant demand, meaning our soldiers are value-added to any theater whether a declared state of conflict or not.
Demolition Pay
While serving as current and qualified, our EOD soldiers receive demolition pay of an additional $150 per month.
Special Duty Assignment Pay
EOD soldiers can qualify for up to an additional $375 per month, based on skill level.
Advanced Specialized Training
EOD soldiers attend such training venues as Advanced IED Disposal Course, Tactical and Technical Exploitation Course, Post-Blast Investigation, and other specialized mobility and technical training.
Networking with Local, State, and Federal Agencies
EOD teams often work directly with local law enforcement to recover or destroy military munitions across the country. EOD units maintain close contact with regional FBI and ATF offices. EOD Soldiers will conduct training, attend courses and participate in a variety of exercises with multiple local and federal agencies including the FBI, ATF, DHS and many others.
Marketable Job Skills
EOD Soldiers are immediately certified as an UXO Technicians. Additionally, EOD Soldiers receive training on advanced electronics, chemistry, forensics, and problem-solving methodologies. A career in EOD involves working in small teams consistently performing in a high-stress/high-stakes environment with minimal oversight while required to solve complex problems. The confidence and problem solving skills developed by EOD Soldiers often lead to successful careers after your service.
Presidential Support Position
At times, EOD Soldiers support the US Secret Service and the Department of State to protect key leaders worldwide.
Civilian Clothing Allowance
Enlisted EOD Soldiers receive up to $382.68 per years as a reimbursement for civilian clothing to conduct EOD missions.
CONUS and OCONUS Travel
The low-density and high-demand nature of the EOD career field means that you can expect to travel often both for operational and training missions worldwide.

Attend EOD Qualification Course

Phase i: Prep Course
All Army Soldiers attend the EOD Prep Course at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA. Enlisted and Officers train side-by-side through five modules of classroom and practical exercise that prepare them for success at the joint EOD school. Prior to beginning training, Soldiers complete the physically demanding Bomb-suit assessment. In-service Soldiers attend school in a TDY status, ask your recruiter for more details.

Duration: 7.5 Weeks
Phase II: Intensified Course
EOD qualified Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen are graduates of NAVSCOLEOD at Eglin AFB, FL. The course runs through eight modules that cover tools and techniques to mitigate both conventional and unconventional explosive hazards. Upon completion of this intensified course, Soldiers obtain the MOS of 89D.

Be an EOD Team Member

Team Leader
EOD Team Leaders are masters of the EOD trade. They are the primary person responsible to protect lives and property from the threat of explosive ordnance. Whether the threat is dropped from the air, launched from land and sea, or hand delivered, EOD Team Leaders have the skills to safely dispose of all hazards. An EOD Team Leader must be an innovative critical thinker that can be trusted to develop procedures with minimal oversight while geographically separated from the remainder of their unit.
EOD Sergeant (Senior)
EOD Sergeants have demonstrated mastery knowledge of EOD equipment. Their primary responsibility is to assist the Team Leader by coordinating local support to ensure everyone on the ground is out of harm's way. They must be skilled communicators that can readily explain the Team Leaders actions and rapidly identify changes in the environment. They also prepare explosive and non-explosive tools, drive remote control vehicles, and assist the Team Leader in identifying explosive ordnance.
EOD Sergeant (Junior)
EOD Team Members prepare explosive and non-explosive tools, drive remote control vehicles, and assist the Team Leader in identifying explosive ordnance. As the apprentice level EOD Soldier, they must be hungry to learn new skills and consistently demonstrate maturity and good judgement.
